#WorldCancerDay No immunotherapy for you. I mean me

On #WorldCancerDay I just found out I do not qualify for the immunotherapy drug trial that I had a blood test for three weeks ago. At least I do not have to worry about side effects interfering with my #triathlontraining. Getting on the bike trainer shortly. I did a 7 mile run yesterday. Kind of feel like I am racing with the Devil. Each time I do something it means that the cancer is held at bay enough so that I am not forced into having the 3rd or 4th line #chemotherapy which REALLY REALLY suck. I am sure I will go on them when the time comes to play kick the can as long as possible in hope of a breakthrough.

And So It Continues

I planned on doing updates over last week, but never got around to it. In light of the news I received yesterday, I figured I would back fill a bit and bring thing up to date. I thought I was coming out of the #chemotherapy effects April 13.  On Monday April 18 my back was still bad.  So I booked a session with a local acupuncturist.   She is a miracle worker and has helped many people with her needles.   I also booked a session with pain management at @memorial Sloan Kettering and contacted the doctor who radiated my spinal tumors in 2018.  He said he wanted to schedule a MRI. Of course, as always, shortly after doing all of those things my back started feeling a bit better.  Just making appointments always seems to cure things ;)  I was also hopeful that the back and leg pain was exacerbated by the chemotherapy. Strike Four

  I sort of kind of knew I was close to be punted from my current drug study. And clearly I forgot how compounding works, so much for my M.B.A. 😉 Just got a call from @Yale. The total growth is about 19.7% since start of study. 20% is an automatic out. There may have been a way to squeeze another round in, but one of the other issues is that there were many tumors that were not measurable in my lungs which are now measurable. I may try to go back to FOLFOX, may be able to squeeze a few treatments out before the neuropathy comes back. And it will come back rather quickly. Or I can go on Stivarga, which is a pretty nasty drug. It seems FOLFOX may be the move. Normally at this point people are not in the shape I am in. It is tougher to handle drug combinations, as compared to one drug, the worse shape you are in. But if it slows things down a bit, it may buy me the time I need. It is a lot of fun.
