For those who do not know, iTRI4aCure is the 501(c)(3) I started for cancer patients and research in 2019. When my cancer came back in late 2017 for the third time in three years, inoperable, I started training for triathlons.

Finishing my first race, and each race thereafter, is an incredible feeling. The doctors are pretty certain that the training has allowed my cardio-vascular system to compensate for my condition. In addition to cancer in my lymph nodes and spine, I have dozens of tumors in my lung and had part of my left lung removed in 2016.

One of the primary goals continues to be to set up training for cancer patients to be able to participate in races either individually or as a member of a relay (including with friends and family). Hopefully this can be done in the not too distant future.

I have not, for the most part, been actively soliciting donations or selling iTRI4aCure items since the pandemic started. I did not feel comfortable doing so.


But I did register for the amazon smile program. If you purchase anything on amazon, and designate iTRI4aCure as the charity, a portion of the sale, 0.5%, will be donated to iTRI4aCure. And So It Continues

I planned on doing updates over last week, but never got around to it. In light of the news I received yesterday, I figured I would back fill a bit and bring thing up to date. I thought I was coming out of the #chemotherapy effects April 13.  On Monday April 18 my back was still bad.  So I booked a session with a local acupuncturist.   She is a miracle worker and has helped many people with her needles.   I also booked a session with pain management at @memorial Sloan Kettering and contacted the doctor who radiated my spinal tumors in 2018.  He said he wanted to schedule a MRI. Of course, as always, shortly after doing all of those things my back started feeling a bit better.  Just making appointments always seems to cure things ;)  I was also hopeful that the back and leg pain was exacerbated by the chemotherapy. Strike Four

  I sort of kind of knew I was close to be punted from my current drug study. And clearly I forgot how compounding works, so much for my M.B.A. 😉 Just got a call from @Yale. The total growth is about 19.7% since start of study. 20% is an automatic out. There may have been a way to squeeze another round in, but one of the other issues is that there were many tumors that were not measurable in my lungs which are now measurable. I may try to go back to FOLFOX, may be able to squeeze a few treatments out before the neuropathy comes back. And it will come back rather quickly. Or I can go on Stivarga, which is a pretty nasty drug. It seems FOLFOX may be the move. Normally at this point people are not in the shape I am in. It is tougher to handle drug combinations, as compared to one drug, the worse shape you are in. But if it slows things down a bit, it may buy me the time I need. It is a lot of fun.
