POG

In the past I would often take a guitar on trips and write music. Often on a beach. Most of the music I wrote, which includes pretty much all things that were cranked through Marshalls. I had not not had a writing spree for a bit.

But last year at the start of the pandemic, I went off to be by myself due to prexisting conditions, I started writing and recording. A lot of it would happen at weird hours as sleep patterns were off due to medications. Waking up 2:30AM for an hour, writing something, going back to sleep. But when it was all said and done on the initial part of things, there were close to 100 things I had sketched out or otherwise completed, other than putting down guitars or bass.

I finished about a dozen of them or so, including alternate versions with vocals on a couple, before I slowed a bit as medication built up and pain kicked in the end of August. But I started again the last couple of weeks to go through things and put down another dozen new things to finish. I also went through the old ideas trying to organize them and flag which ones I wanted to do next for whatever reason - either because I was starting to hum a guitar line, or there was something that was a bit different from those I finished.

So I worked on a song I have called "POG" (There is a story to that.) Other than the guitar part, this was written at about 1 AM on July 2, 2020. (I do love EXIF data in photos. And general data in files ;)) So I sat down, plugged in the guitar, set up a couple of iPhones/iPads to record, and 40 minutes later (after a couple of false starts or watching my hands go off somewhere I did not intend them to), had a guitar line down.

My friend recently something that was really funny about videos on the internet and how every guitar player fits into a certain type on a video (the faces and all the rest), so I figured I would try to avoid that. Had a few things I wanted to try, but oceans and water always work for me. So took I shot with a DJI Drone for fun a few years back and figured "why not?" Put an edit together, and here it is. The first semi-official video from what I hope to release this year. (Looks like more than one will be coming out of all of this.)

Guess I will see what happens. :)
